Jessie Husband's map of Cape May, NJ

There’s a reason Cape May feels like stepping into another time. Between its colorful Victorian houses, historic streets, and salty ocean air, this little corner of the Jersey Shore is full of stories waiting to be discovered.

And if you look a little closer, there’s more to Cape May than meets the eye.

Did You Know? Cape May Is the Nation’s Oldest Seaside Resort

Cape May started welcoming vacationers from Philadelphia back in the 1700s. Today, the city is known for its incredible collection of more than 600 preserved Victorian buildings. Talk about standing the test of time!

199 Steps to a Pretty Great View

The Cape May Lighthouse was built in 1859 and is still an active aid to navigation. Climb its 199 steps for sweeping views of the coastline, the Atlantic Ocean, and Delaware Bay.

The Beach Has Its Own Hidden Treasures

Ever heard of Cape May Diamonds? These smooth, clear quartz pebbles wash down from the Delaware River and can be found along the beaches near Sunset Beach. They aren't actual diamonds, but they're a pretty fun souvenir to hunt for.

The Little Details Make the Place

This is exactly what I love about creating illustrated maps. Every town has its own personality, history, and hidden gems. I love researching the places I draw and finding those little details that make someone say, “Oh, I know that spot!”

My Cape May map celebrates the charm, character, and coastal nostalgia that make this town so special.
